A research article originally published in a peer-reviewed journal in 1998 was uploaded to an online academic repository in 2015. In a standard academic citation, the year that represents the official publication date is _______.
Answer
1998
Explanation
### Why this is right
The page says the material was uploaded by Garry Chick on 14 November 2015. That date is later than the stated April 1998 publication date and refers to the upload event.
### The concept
Online copies may be uploaded after the original journal publication. The upload date documents the platform event, while the publication date identifies when the journal article appeared.
### Remember
A later upload does not change the original publication date.
