Arrange the steps in the correct order to switch between open applications using the Windows taskbar.

### Why this is right Switching through the taskbar follows a cause-and-effect sequence: you first find the icon for the open application, then select it, and Windows displays that application’s window in front of the others. Selecting an icon before locating the right one would risk bringing forward the wrong application. ### The concept The **taskbar** is the strip on the Windows desktop that shows icons for applications, including ones that are open. An application is a program, and its taskbar icon gives you a way to select or return to it. Clicking the icon tells Windows which application you want to use. The selected window comes to the **foreground**, meaning it appears in front of other windows and is ready for interaction. This differs from opening an application that is not running, which may require selecting it from the Start menu or another location. ### The order 1. **Locate the icon of the open application on the taskbar.** You need to identify the correct program before selecting it. 2. **Click the icon of the desired application.** This tells Windows which open program you want to switch to. 3. **The selected application window comes to the foreground.** Windows brings it in front of the other windows. ### Terms - **Taskbar**: The desktop area that displays icons for open or pinned applications and provides a way to select them. - **Application**: A computer program that performs a task, such as a web browser or word processor. - **Foreground**: The position of a window when it is displayed in front of other windows. ### Remember Find the open application’s taskbar icon, select it, then look for its window to appear in front.
